History & Background of LPP

The Farmers' Organization Agency (LPP) was established on February 14, 1973 through the enactment of the LPP Act 1973 (Act 110), the Farmers' Organization Act. The establishment of LPP aims to bear the responsibility of helping to improve the economic and social status of rural communities under a specialized body.

Act 109, the Farmers' Association Act 1973, was specifically drafted to restructure farmer associations and agricultural-based cooperatives. Under this Act, farmer associations were dissolved and re-registered as farmers' organizations, while agricultural-based cooperatives became members of the Farmers' Organization. At this time, there are 1531 agricultural-based cooperatives and 119 farmer associations serving rural communities.

Role of LPP

LPP implements programs and projects in line with current government policies in the fields of agriculture and rural development, including those addressing issues of reducing poverty and community restructuring.
